Well, that was fun! Yesterday saw Paul and Victor getting more and more nervous as the day went on waiting for the nominations. They were convinced that one of them was going up opposite James and they were nervous about which it would be. They asked Corey several times and each time he said he wasn't sure, but not to worry. So, Paul and Victor kept their faith in the Final Four alliance and just waited for the noms. They got a bit testy with one another as the stress built, but finally it was time for the nominations.
When the feeds came back up James, Nicole and Corey were scurrying upstairs to the HOH bedroom to lock themselves away while Paul and Victor stomped around on the first floor. Corey and Nicole had broken their word to Paul and Victor and nominated them both. Nicole, being Nicole told James she couldn't understand why they were so upset, "it's not like we had a final four deal with them or anything." Uh, Nicole? If you think about it for a minute you may recall that all last week you did have a final four deal with them called "The Final Four." That's why they're a teensy bit peeved.
Paul and Victor meanwhile were convinced that James must have gone to Corey and Nicole in the last minute before the nominations and swayed them somehow. (Yeah, we all know what a smooth talker James is.) In his speech Corey had been planning to tell them this was payback for them turning on the guy's alliance and putting him and Paulie on the block when Victor was HOH and that they were keeping James as they'd been working with him from week one and he'd kept them safe the whole time. I don't know if he really did tell them that or if they were too annoyed to hear it, but that was the excuse they concocted to put up Paul and Victor.
After a few minutes alone in the safari room, Paul and Victor emerged. James was the first to emerge from the safety of the HOH room and head downstairs. Paul and Victor congratulated him and assured him he would not be their target going forward, but that Corey and Nicole now were their targets. They said they knew one of them was going to the jury this week, but the other one wanted to work with James to make it a two on two battle against Corey and Nicole. James was largely noncommittal.
Paul then found his way to the HOH room to try and figure out what happened. Corey explained again how Victor had turned on them first and this was payback. Paul tried to remind them that they'd said nothing in the past mattered, but Corey said that was why he did it. Paul tried to smooth things over to get James voted out should one of Paul/Victor win POV but Corey made it pretty clear one of those two would be going home. Victor found his way to the HOH room and made it clear it was to be war between them from this time on.
After they left Nicole couldn't understand why they were still so upset about it. She claimed to be over Christine stabbing her in the back within a few minutes in her season. Yeah, okay, sure. That's why she brings up Christine's name nearly every time someone gets stabbed in the back, because she's so over it.
So, as things now stand, Paul and Victor are on the block with Victor the clear target unless he wins POV. Then the target shifts to Paul. James is solidly with Corey and Nicole, unless he isn't, but he is unless/until Paul/Victor gets some power. Nicole is blaming the noms on Corey to paint the bulls-eye on him should Paul/Victor win the next HOH so she'll slide through to the final three. James is pretty much guaranteed a final three spot. It's largely a question of who between Corey, Paul and Victor fills that third spot. One of Paul/Victor will be leaving on Monday. If Nicole/James end up nominated in some way (it would likely have to be after the POV was played on Wednesday) you could see Nicole gone. These next five days will determine the final three in the house.
I think it's reasonably safe to say that James and Nicole are favorites right now for two of the final three seats. What happens after that is anyone's guess. From here on out we get to find out how much Corey, Nicole and James have been throwing comps. You don't throw comps now if you want to stay in the game. It's time to play the game. With three players using a very similar strategy of lying low and coasting to the end, the next ten days will help the jury sort out which of them should win.
The POV comp will be played later today. Expect that to be a fight to the death. They think it may be the comic book comp as they heard what sounded like a zip line being tested in the yard last night. If there's any physical element to this POV comp, expect Victor to win it. He didn't compete in the slip and slide comp and the rest who did are all still stiff and sore. There's no more subtlety in the game now. Everyone pretty much knows where everyone else stands. It's game time!
