Happy Fourth of July everyone!
Sunday was a nice quiet day in the house with no competitions or ceremonies taking place. The backyard was open again and everyone was able to get out of the house and enjoy themselves. The stress of the game is starting to show up a bit now though. Michelle was in tears early in the day for calling James a midget while in a mock fight with him. Our overly PC society now has her fearing that one little slip of the tongue may harm her in her job.
Frank is getting louder and louder in his fake laughing. He met privately with Zakiyah and Nicole and told them he wants Bronte or Tiffany out next, and that he doesn't want Corey to win HOH for the next two HOH's as he thinks Corey would protect Tiffany. Frank really wants Tiffany out soon. Nicole then relayed this information to Davonne who said they need Bronte to go first since she's targeting Nicole.
Meanwhile Tiffany got Corey alone and told him about her sister Vanessa. Corey had no clue who Vanessa was, as he only watched the parts of Big Brother last year that featured Clay since he knew Clay. Tiffany explained that her sister was a famous poker player who should have won last year. Tiffany then told Corey that BB just called her out of the blue seven days before the show and she spent two of those days talking to Vanessa non-stop about strategy and how to play the game. Corey knows Clay and may have gotten advice on how to play from Clay. (Clay played the game? Who knew? I thought he was just Shelli's lapdog.)
Our budding showmance between James and Natalie continues to grow. James and Natalie were both embarrassed by their performance in the Road Kill comp and want America to know they aren't that stupid they were just under a lot of stress. Both seem to be turning up their flirting game with each other. I'm not sure they both aren't playing the other one, but it's cute to watch anyway. (Corey and Victor think Natalie is fake and don't particularly like her all that much. The fact that she's not falling all over them may be influencing their opinions just a tick.) James has promised Nat she'll make Jury at the very least.
Nicole (and most of the girls including the Spy Girls) have noticed that there seems to be a transition taking place where the guys (Frank, Corey, Paulie, and to some extent James and even Paul) are more or less now trying to run the show. They're not involving the girls in discussion as to who to take out next, but telling them who to take out next. This isn't going over so well with the girls. Nicole took Corey aside and wanted to be sure she and Corey were still solid. He told her they were, but then later told the guys Nicole was just a friend.
Davonne also thinks the boys are teaming up and excluding the girls. She wants Tiffany to take out Frank. She also thinks James and Natalie are getting too close and that Tiffany is gunning for Davonne. A bit later Davonne had a rare one on one meeting with Tiffany and suggested Tiffany take out Frank and Tiffany said she could only do it by backdooring him as he was too good at competitions and if they put him up, he has to go.
Frank had a bit of a blowup when James took a pizza out of the oven without Frank's approval. This flareup caught Nicole's attention and she had a chat with James where it sounds like James isn't opposed to Frank leaving in the not too distant future.
Today we'll have the POV ceremony when Paul will come down and Victor will go up. Paulie will give his speech taking all of the heat for putting Victor up and then Victor will go bye-bye on Thursday likely by a unanimous vote. Victor's likely to be a bit upset by this move, but there's not a lot he can do about it. He's going to be told Tiffany is still the target, but he'll likely know better. Then the real fun will start.
We've reached a turning point in the game. The Eight Pack plus Paulie should be dominating the game and picking off everyone else one by one. But Frank and his overly aggressive game play has largely imploded that strategy. His desire to get rid of Tiffany soon, combined with his closer bonds with the guys including Paul, and his excluding the girls from strategy sessions, have painted a big bulls-eye on Frank's back. These next few weeks should be kind of entertaining. Bronte still seems queued up for the next eviction, but then it looks like it could be either Tiffany or Frank heading out depending on who has the power. The Eight Pack will likely be losing a member long before the rest of the house has been flushed.
The Eight Pack plus Paulie is now composed of five women (Nicole, Davonne, Michelle, Zakiyah, and Tiffany also known as the Fatal Five) and three men (James, Frank, and Corey) and then there's Paulie. The girls in the eight Pack have noticed the guys are trying to take control and that Frank is the ringleader. The house could be soon realigning along gender lines. The guys don't want Paul gone soon, but want Tiffany and Bronte out followed by Bridgette and Michelle. They wouldn't mind losing Davonne or Nicole in there someplace too. The girls aren't so fond of that order of eviction.
After Thursday the girls will have an eight to five advantage over the guys and an HOH win on Thursday by the girls will likely have them looking to make that an eight to four edge. If an Eight Pack girl wins, she could make it clear that Paul, an outsider, is her target and see how the Eight Pack boys plus Paulie react. If the boys insist on Bronte or another girl being the target, we could see Frank become the target of a backdoor. If the boys roll over and let Paul go, then things are likely to calm down a bit and the Eight Pack plus Paulie might just hold together.
If a guy wins HOH on Thursday and three girls go up (a strong possibility) then the girls will likely decide it's a declaration of war and the house will divide along gender lines. James is something of a wild card. I wouldn't be shocked to see James side with the girls.
If a Spy Girl (particularly Natalie or Bronte) wins HOH, then Frank had best don some Kevlar undies as he'll be a big target for them. They may not nominate him up front, but the backdoor would be very tempting. We're going to learn a lot about the future of the game by the end of the week. Frank's aggressive game play and his attempts to take overt control of the game is going to backfire on him soon. A Bronte win of HOH could serve to unite the girls in the house. It wouldn't be unheard of for her to put up Paulie and Corey as initial nominees with Frank in reserve as a backdoor option. Bronte could earn some gratitude from Nicole for not putting Nicole up and those two could reach a truce.
The Eight Pack plus Paulie should be controlling the game and cruising to the jury, but I strongly suspect several of them will be out of the game long before the jury starts. This upcoming HOH and the nominations that come out of it will tell us a lot about the future of the game.
